5 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Cycle Syncing
When I first started cycle syncing, I thought I had it all figured out. I had the knowledge, the tools, and the excitement. But let me tell you, knowing something intellectually and actually integrating it into your life are two very different things.
Here are five things I wish someone had told me when I first began this journey:
1. This is a journey, not a one-day transformation.
When I first stepped onto this path, I genuinely thought I could map the whole thing out and master it overnight. I had the research: what types of movement supported each phase, which nutrients nourished the womb and balanced PMS, how to optimize my brainpower at each point in my cycle… I was ready to implement it all at once.
Spoiler alert: that’s a recipe for burnout.
Instead of trying to eat the whole elephant in one bite, I took it piece by piece. I started with the basics, simply tracking my period. I’d jot down the moon phase, my energy levels, sleep quality, and emotions. Once that became second nature, I moved on to adjusting my diet. Then I incorporated movement. After that, I layered in social planning and even structured my business strategy around my cycle.
This didn’t happen overnight. It didn’t even happen in a week. It took me about three months to fully integrate cycle syncing into my daily life in a way that actually felt sustainable.
2. Be gracious with yourself.
I’m not telling you all of this to overwhelm or discourage you, I’m telling you because perfection isn’t the goal. Real life will always throw in a curveball. There were plenty of days I forgot to journal, ate out while traveling and totally ignored my phase-based nutrition, or skipped a workout because I was just too tired.
And that’s okay.
No one does this perfectly, and that’s the whole point. Give yourself grace. Honor where you are. If you fall off, just come back. This practice is about learning to listen to your body, not forcing it into another rigid system.
3. Do what works for you.
This was one of the most empowering lessons, Cycle syncing is not one-size-fits-all.
It taught me to deeply tune in and notice how different foods, movement styles, and even workloads impacted me. For example, I realized I don’t love cycling during ovulation, it just doesn’t feel good in my body. But a HIIT workout? That’s where I feel alive. I also learned that I don’t love tuna or sardines, so I prioritize salmon and supplement with cod liver oil instead.
It’s not about doing it “right,” it’s about doing it your way. The more you personalize your routine, the more you’ll respect your body and the powerful energy within your womb.
4. No one will love you exactly how you want to be loved. That’s your job.
Once I began shifting from routines to rituals, from rushing to being intentional, everything changed. The way I treated myself softened. The way I approached my days became more grounded. My confidence deepened.
You start to realize that the love, care, and sacred attention you’ve been craving from others is something you can give yourself, and cycle syncing becomes a beautiful way to practice that daily.
5. Real change takes time, but it does happen.
By month three, I started noticing real, tangible changes. My cycle became more regular. The bleeding was lighter. Bloating eased. Cramps became less intense. My skin cleared up. And most importantly, I felt happier, more balanced, and more at home in my body.
Cycle syncing isn’t just a wellness trend, it’s a reconnection to your body’s natural rhythm. And when you nurture that connection, your body responds in the most beautiful ways.
If you’re just beginning your cycle syncing journey, be patient. Be kind. Start small. You don’t have to do it all at once. Your body will thank you for each step you take, and trust me, she’s listening.
You are your own best healer. 🌙
